How these figures are calculated
A bond is lodged with the Rental Bond Board at the start of a tenancy.
Each lodgement records a postcode, a dwelling type, a bedroom count and a
weekly rent. A cell is one combination of those four, for one month.
Within a cell, the lodgements are sorted by rent. The median is the middle
figure. The lower and upper quarter marks are the figures one quarter and
three quarters of the way along. Nothing is smoothed, weighted or filled
in from other cells.
The number of lodgements in a cell is written as n. It is drawn as a tally
beside every figure here. The slot holds thirty marks, which is the point
at which a cell is treated as adequate.
